7Brew - Coffee Undercover

My daughter and I decided to go outside of our comfort zones and try a new coffee shop - 7Brew, located on 8th St in Moorhead - and I lived to tell you all about it!

Now, I've been to several coffee shops in the area, as something of a coffee addi... eh, connoisseur, so it wasn't so much trying something new that was out of my comfort zone; It was figuring out a new process for ordering as a person with anxiety. Having never been through a line where there are people outside, walking down the line of cars, taking orders, it was a bit different than I'm used to. It was a cross between McDonald's split lane and Chic-Fil-A, or at least that's what it looks like. I've never been to Chic-Fil-A, I just see people walking around out there sometimes. Anyway, I digress.

We both ordered Large Brunettes (personally, I think they missed an opportunity to name it a Brew-nette, but that's neither here nor there). The first thing I noticed was just how large the Large was. Compared to this, a venti at Starbucks feels like a sippy cup. It felt like I was holding a whole pitcher of coffee instead of cup.

The drink itself wasn't too watered down or flat, like many iced flavored coffee drinks become, especially on hot days. Instead the flavors were discernible and robust, with pops of Hazelnut, Chocolate and Caramel. The ice to drink ratio was on point - with enough ice to keep the drink cold for quite some time, but not enough to water it down too much too quickly.

The customer service was amazing with the lady who took our order being open to chat with me about the menu in depth (it wasn't a busy time for them). The gentleman that gave us our drinks was personable and enthusiastic and agreed that pineapple belongs on pizza (this is a hill I will fight on - not die, but fight). It seemed like a genuinely happy work environment with people that enjoy being there.

The only complaint that I have, which isn't really a complaint because it has more to do with my preference and process when trying new things than my over all satisfaction, is that the beverage was a little too sweet. However, I am a person that gets a minimum of 5 shots of espresso in any given drink and only half the syrup because I like my coffee to taste like coffee with a hint of extra flavor. With that, I typically try new drinks as they are meant to be enjoyed before adjusting, so I know in which ways an adjustment is necessary to meet my preferences. Now I know, less syrup (adding more espresso may make me break the sound barrier).

My conclusion: If you enjoy coffee in cups bigger than your head and great customer service, you should head on down to 7Brew!
