Kpheck Studios - Artist & Community Spotlight

Art is the world's first form of communication and expression. Before there was language, there were pictures depicting our early experiences. For local artist, Kellie at Kpheck Studios, art has always been her primary source of expression and processing.

Being Neuro-spicy, art isn't so much about reaching a certain destination or manifesting a specific outcome for her, it's the mess filled journey to getting there. The very act of focusing on the journey itself requires that we sit with the discomfort of the unknown, which brings clarity to complex feelings or issues.

Her art centers around, as she described it, "whimsy to the point of stubbornness." It's meant to push boundaries and illicit feelings in a very Avant-garde way. Having struggled with body image for much of her life, you will also find themes like radical self-acceptance and body positivity in her work.

As an artist, Kellie has made it her mission to support other artists through providing a safe space for our local art community to gather and experiment. She firmly believes that art, as our most basic form of expression, should be open to everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status. That belief is the base on which she built the FM Underdog Artist Group. To further her mission to make art accessible, she also opens her studio up for rent on a sliding scale, including to other artistic groups like the People's Pride Art Collective.
